Rebecca and Michael’s Winter Engagement Photoshoot: From Ice Castles to Tall Trees

Rebecca and Michael met while both working at an ER, and they bonded over their shared passion for helping others. When they reached out to me to book their engagement photoshoot, I was thrilled to hear they wanted to have a unique session at the Minnesota Ice Castles.

The day of the photoshoot, Rebecca and Michael woke up before sunrise and hit the road, eager to start their day. But on their drive to Minnesota, they received an email saying that the ice castles were not opening until after sunset due to “warm weather”. Which is super rare in Minnesota for a photoshoot to have to change plans due to warmer weather. However, I always come prepared with backup options and we quickly found a nearby park with tall, beautiful trees, and we made the most of it!

We had to be a little careful walking through some icy spots on the trail. We were shocked to see colorful leaves in the park as well this late into the winter season!

One of my favorite moments from the shoot was listening to them talk about how they met, about all their dogs they have back at home, and watching the sun settle as we walked back. Both of their rings are beautiful and unique which I love.

Rebecca and Michael’s winter engagement photoshoot was so much fun, even though we had to change our plans at the last minute. It just goes to show that sometimes, the best things in life are the unexpected surprises.
