Why Boom Island + St. Anthony Main Minneapolis is Perfect for Engagement Photos
Boom Island Park and St. Anthony Main are two of the most picturesque locations in Minneapolis for engagement photos. This area offers a little bit of everything: waterfront views, charming city streets, iconic bridges, and a breathtaking skyline backdrop. Whether you’re drawn to the natural beauty of the Mississippi River or the urban charm of St. Anthony Main, this location provides endless opportunities for romantic and timeless photos.
For Holly and Dio’s session, we made the most of both spots—starting at Boom Island and ending with golden hour magic at St. Anthony Main.
Starting the Engagement Session at Boom Island
We kicked things off at Boom Island Park, a gem tucked along the riverfront with open green spaces, scenic trails, and a stunning bridge that offers incredible views of the Minneapolis skyline. Holly and Dio were amazing as we strolled through the park, capturing sweet and candid moments along the way.
Then we headed over to Boom Island’s charming bridge that leads into the park. We stopped here for some golden light photos, taking advantage of the leading lines and the soft summer light filtering through.
We also ventured onto a quiet trail near the water, where the lush greenery created a dreamy, natural setting. Holly and Dio’s chemistry was undeniable, and their laughter echoed through the trees as we captured their love in this peaceful spot.
Exploring the Charm of St. Anthony Main Minneapolis
After soaking in the beauty of Boom Island, we made our way over to St. Anthony Main, a historic area filled with cobblestone streets, charming cafés, and breathtaking views of the river.
One of my absolute favorite spots to photograph couples is a hidden rock along the riverfront. This spot offers one of the best views of the Minneapolis skyline, creating the perfect balance between nature and city life. Holly and Dio stood together on the rock, taking in the view as the sun started to set. These shots turned out to be some of my favorites from the session.
From there, we wandered through the streets of St. Anthony Main, stopping to snap photos in front of some of its most iconic spots. The Aster Café, with its twinkling lights and old-world charm, made for a romantic setting, while the cobblestone streets gave their photos a timeless, European feel.
We also found a unique spot under a bridge, where the industrial textures added a modern contrast to their session. I love finding hidden nooks like this that bring variety to an engagement gallery!

Holly and Dio’s engagement session was an absolute joy to capture, and I can’t wait to photograph their intimate wedding at the Sunken Gardens in Como Park, St. Paul.
