Mariana and Thomas reached out to me with a vision in mind for their elopement – they wanted to get married at the courthouse in Minnesota and take photos in a park with tall trees covered in snow. We quickly hopped on a call to discuss their elopement plans and get to know each other. From the moment we started talking, I knew Mariana and Thomas were an amazing couple and I was excited to be a part of their special elopement day!
After chatting with them, I went location scouting for the perfect park in the Twin Cities area that would have the tall, beautiful trees Mariana was dreaming of. Leading up to their elopement day, things got a little hectic with illnesses and a huge blizzard hitting Minnesota. Thankfully, the blizzard came right before their elopement day, so they were able to have a safe day and get the fresh coat of snow on the trees that Mariana had dreamed of.
On the day of their elopement, we met up at their apartment in St. Paul for a first look. Mariana’s outfit was stunning, from her beautiful dress from Nasty Gal to her boots and hair. She looked absolutely amazing and I was in awe. After a few hugs and some sweet moments, we headed over to the Minnesota Courthouse for their elopement ceremony with their two witnesses – Thomas’s brother, who had flown in from Nashville, and Mariana’s friend, whom she had met during an exchange program in the United States (Mariana is originally from Colombia).
The courthouse was even more beautiful than we had expected, and we took some beautiful and fun photos with their golden elevators. We even popped some champagne outside together to celebrate! The ceremony with the judge was beautiful, with tears shed and lots of laughter shared. The energy was amazing and it was clear that Mariana and Thomas were deeply in love.
After the ceremony, we went to a local park to take some portraits. It was a freezing cold day, and the trail was a little icy, but Mariana and Thomas were troopers and we managed to get some beautiful photos. Thomas kept trying to warm up Mariana’s hands because it was so cold out. We parted ways after the photos, with Mariana and Thomas going to celebrate their marriage with a dinner and a staycation at a local hotel.
I had such an amazing time working with Mariana and Thomas and being a part of their intimate elopement. Minnesota may be known for its harsh winters, but this elopement proved that even on a cold day, love can keep us warm.
