She did it in a dress.

Taylors Falls is already one of the most stunning locations for engagement photos in Minnesota. The dramatic cliffs, rugged rock formations, and sweeping views of the St. Croix River make it an absolute dream, especially in the fall when the trees turn into a mix of fiery reds, oranges, and golds. Add in a couple who’s willing to climb those cliffs for their session? Next level.
Climbing Without Ropes… in a Dress!
We started the session with some classic engagement photos—walking along the scenic trails, taking in the fall colors, and stopping for quiet moments together. But once we got to the rocky cliffs, Tina and James were ready. They kicked off their shoes, scoped out the rocks, and before I knew it, they were climbing straight up the cliffs—completely free climbing.
Tina, in her engagement dress, scaling the rocks like it was nothing, was easily one of the most impressive things I’ve ever photographed. James was right there beside her, both of them moving like they’d done this a million times before (which, let’s be real, they probably have). It was wild, unexpected, and so much fun to capture.

Between climbs, we soaked in the beauty of Taylors Falls. The crisp fall air, the colorful trees reflecting on the river, and the golden sunlight filtering through the cliffs made for an unreal setting. Even with the adrenaline of free climbing, there were so many quiet, beautiful moments between these two—laughing, holding hands, and just being fully in the moment.
