Fun Boat Engagement Photos Wayzata MN

When Jena messaged me on Instagram saying that they wanted to take engagement photos on a boat, I was beyond excited. There’s nothing I love more than being on water, so I knew this shoot was going to be amazing!

I arrived early to the shoot and double-checked the weather, which looked good to go. However, once Jena and Anthony arrived in downtown Wayzata, we noticed some storm clouds rolling in. Two minutes into the session, it started down-pouring rain. We quickly snuck underneath an awning for 10 minutes while laughing at the craziness of it all.

Thankfully, the rain stopped as quickly as it started, and we headed back out to capture some shots of the couple walking around downtown Wayzata. As we were shooting, a rainbow suddenly appeared in the sky, adding a touch of magic to their engagement photos!

Next, we hopped on their friend’s boat, after checking the weather again to make sure we were in the clear. We took some beautiful photos on the water and had a lot of fun. At the end of the session, Jena and Anthony even jumped off the boat together fully clothed and had a blast!

But then, things took a bit of an unexpected turn. As they were heading back to the boat, we noticed some storm clouds looming in the distance. We all started to get a bit nervous, as lightning on the water is never a good thing. Suddenly, the boat’s engine wouldn’t start up again, no matter how hard we tried. Panic started to set in as the storm clouds closed in around us.

Finally, the boat started up again, and we quickly headed in the opposite direction, away from the storm. We made it safely to the friend’s parents’ house, where we were able to get off the boat and take a breath. It was a crazy adventure, but we were all safe and sound.

Looking back on the day, I can’t believe that all happened and we still had a lot of fun. Despite the unexpected rainstorm and boat troubles, Jena and Anthony were troopers and made the most of the situation. It was an unforgettable experience, and one that we’ll all be talking about for years to come!
